Last Week

Yesterday I was reflecting in my personal study and had a spiritual experience.  I was studying Doctrine and Covenants, Section 97, Verse 8, which reads…
“Verily I say unto you, all among them who know their hearts are honest, and are broken, and their spirits contrite, and are willing to observe their covenants by sacrifice—yea, every sacrifice which I, the Lord, shall command—they are accepted of me.”

I wrote down in my study journal and asked myself, “Is my heart honest and broken?  Is my spirit contrite? Am I willing to observe the covenants I’ve made with God by sacrifice?  Yes, every sacrifice needful to keep my covenants completely?”

Then I asked myself, “what sacrifices have I made to keep my covenants?” Multiple sacrifices that I have made came to my remembrance.  Then I felt prompted to re-study the talk, “Becoming a Consecrated Missionary”, by Tad R. Callister.  A talk that talks much about sacrifices to make in order to become a Consecrated Missionary.  I felt peace and guidance as I read it, knowing that I have strived to do all I can in my mission, to do what is right and to fulfill my duty.  Towards the end of the talk, Callister says,
“I do not think the Lord expects immediate perfection of us, but I do believe he expects immediate progress, and with that progress comes consecration.”  With these words came peace to my soul.  I have strived to make all the progress I could and that has made me a consecrated missionary.  Then I asked myself, what more can I sacrifice for this last week and here on out in order to complete more fully my covenants. And the Spirit spoke to me and told me what I must do.  The joy of the Gospel!  Becoming more and more like the Savior until that perfect day!  When His merciful Atonement covers us after all that we could have done.

The Marcone Family are doing well.  Yamila, the mom and the gospel leader of the family, is still praying for answers.  She’s tied between her old church that she feels the need to continue attending and our church where she feels like everything is true.  She’s reading a lot of the Book of Mormon and attended church again yesterday with her two little ones.  We continue praying and working for and with her family.

Love you a ton fam and friends!

The Atonement is real, let it work within you

This week was a little downer wise concerning investigators.  New obstacles have arisen to impede Mario and Tamara, Walter and Vanesa from progressing.  As strong as my testimony has grown while on the mission concerning the Savior, perhaps equally has my testimony of the reality of Satan grown.  He is the adversary.  In whatever form he works in, whether great or small, he is VERY cunning and if anything completely DECEIVING.  Just as much as the Holy Ghost can have power to speak good things to our hearts and minds, Satan can do the same with bad things.  With the strength that comes from OBEDIENCE to gospel commandments, we are empowered to identify when Satan is working within us.  He will try ANYthing to deceive us into not doing the Lord’s will.  He will make us think that something is so logical as to deter us from keeping a commitment we’ve made to God.  He gives us “carnal security.”

21 And others will he pacify, and lull them away into carnal security, that they will say: All is well in Zion; yea, Zion prospereth, all is well—and thus the devil cheateth their souls, and leadeth them away carefully down to hell.

22 And behold, others he flattereth away, and telleth them there is no hell; and he saith unto them: I am no devil, for there is none—and thus he whispereth in their ears, until he grasps them with his awful chains, from whence there is no deliverance.    2 Nefi 28:21-22

I invite you to read 2 Nephi 28 of The Book of Mormon, here it is!
And don’t be cheated by Satan! :)
But the work here among Less-Actives is progressing.  Little by little they are getting every bit stronger and self-sufficient spiritually.
I love this work, I love Christ my Redeemer, I love the feeling of sincere repentance when it is necesarry.  The Atonement of Jesus Christ is real, let it work within you.
Love you all!

Cristina is still set for baptism this coming October 12th.  Ramón had an interview with the Bishop and has given the okay that he can baptize her!  It has been difficult for Ramón to quit his vices for the drink and the smoke, but together, Cristina and Ramón have been growing and seeing the blessings of following Christ!
We had an awesome Men´s Dinner activity, a photo is below.  We have such young studs in the ward.  It´s a great blessing because they add fun and energy to the ward.
Below is also a picture of the awesome Granny that feeds us.  The one that loves eating with us, “chicos lindos.”
We gave service to an in-active family this week, a picture of their boys on their make-shift cart below!  I hope their hearts will be softened by our service to return again.
One thing I know is that my nature has changed through my study and application of the gospel.  I detest all types of sin!  My spirit is filled with such joy in the message of repentance and faith.  The message of the Restoration of the Gospel is beautiful and soul-satisfying.  My only wish is that all would be humble to hear this message and not cast it out due to their unbelief!  But apply the words of Christ read in the holy scriptures and spoken by the words of holy prophets.  So much uncomprehended joy is found in living the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
I will remember to detail more exciting stories for the next week´s letter :)
Transfers are next week.  I don`t want to leave Baigorria!!! But let the Lord´s will be done!
Love you all!
