Hasta Luego Baigorria

Tomorrow is transfers and we got word today that I am GONE BABY!  I’m headed tomorrow morning to another pueblito, small little village, called Feliciano!  It’s in the zone La Paz, in the province of Entre Rios!  I’m going to Entre Rios!  Which means I’ll be crossing over the big Rosario-Victoria bridge over the Rio Paraná. I’ve heard it’s more naturey and scenic in Entre Rios.

My new companion is Elder Lopez. North American but some Latino descent.  He used to be the Finance Clerk for the offices.  From the times I’ve met him, he’s a great elder!  He will actually be the Branch President for our little Branch in Feliciano!  I’m really excited to be his right-hand man!  I imagine it’s going to be an adventure!  Being two elders, leading a branch.  What things I’ll learn!  I´m stoked to let you know what it`s like next week!
The bishop and family.  Great man!  They have a sheep as their pet instead of a dog!  Named “Amiga”.  What a laugh.  They like her because she cuts the grass and only leaves little droppings for her doo-droppings!
Rock star members that fed us every Tuesday night.
So goodbye Granadero Baigorria!!  I will miss it a lot!  I love this area, the ward, the people, our investigators.  I will unfortunately miss watching Sister Cristina Martinez being baptized this coming Sunday! Dang!  We told her this morning at her door that I was leaving and she began to cry…which made me cry, dang it!  But we will have one last lesson tonight with her and Ramón.  We are going to run over the baptismal interview questions.  Don`t worry I’ll take a picture with them!
This is Emanuel!  We re-activated him and his brother.
We went to the birthday party of a member for a tad of time.  I got to talk to a non-member woman who said she already has a Book of Mormon and has read a little bit.  Yup…we got to B-day parties to seek potential investigators…
I’ve been in Baigorria here for 2 transfers (3 months).  I didn’t get to “officially” be here to baptize, but it has been such a pleasure to preach and teach the good word of God to our good friends who were touched by the message.  Antonella investigator is for sure being baptized in November. They are almost done with their mini house (for her and Cristian) and will be married in November also.  She’s a sweet angel!  I will miss teaching her becuase every time the Spirit was very strong!  Fernanda “Cheese” Formagio will be baptized in November also.  We’ve reactivated some in-actives.  I learned a lot from Elder Poulton my companion and will miss the big guy! (elder!).  He’s a very intelligent person, fantastic teacher, and always makes clever jokes.
The awesome member family with whom we always taught Antonella.
Fun members that always fed us every Wednesday night.
Hasta Luego Baigorria!
Love you fam and friends…you’re the best!

Hola queridos!

I’ll start off with some fun news.

Everybody says “che” as a nickname for everybody. As in “dude”.  From the dogs, chickens, to elderly people, people call other people “Che”.  It´s awesome.  Many times people will yell at there dogs, “CHE! Get down!” or say to a colleague, “Che, I know what you mean.”
Elder Summers and I. We had a conference where half of the mission showed up.  Elder Summers was my replacement for Empalme, my hometown! (My first area!)  I heard some VERY special news from him…Maria Garcia, my convert, is still active and doing well!!!!  ANNNNND, he baptized a young woman of 17 called Nadia that I met and taught at the very end of my time in Emplame!!!  I KNEW she was a stud! and she´s a strong, new convert stud now!  That news just filled me with so much joy.  I´m so lucky to have been a part of her finding.
We´ve found a woman and taught her the Plan of Salvation who looks very similar to Katy Perry.  We forgot her name for a couple days so we´d say, “Let´s go back to Katy Perry!”
I’ve gotten a little bellyyyyy, noooooo!!!!  Whatever abdominals might have been there are now GONE.  I blame it on all the bread and starch here and specifically the donuts (“bolitas de fry”) that people have been feeding us lately!  Luckily Ï’m not supposed to impress anyway right now anyway but I promise this thing is being shedded when I get back…only salads and oranges!
At church this last Sunday we had 4 of our investigators come!  The most I´ve had on the mission attend in the same day! Success!!
José Luis and fam are going strong…he´s been going to self-sufficiency classes provided by the church!  Showing true dedication and working hard to find work! Still just need paperwork to arrive to get a move on the marriage.  They went to church.
We live close to this super german/swiss pub called “Werlina” that never seems to be open, but we have fun passing by it everyday.
We found a new man this week!  Daniel!  He´s super humble.  About 40 years old.  Lives alone in a house owned by his employer.  Scraggly hair (picture Snape).  And a GREAT and SINCERE spirit.  With one little lesson, he accepted to come to church and he really came!  He liked it and said he felt comfortable!  He said, “Until next week!” Sounds like he will easily be coming again.  We passed by later Sunday and he commented, “I felt really good.  But I´ll liven up the people a little bit because they need to liven up!”  We laughed together at that!  He´s used to the big ‘ole band church and everything.
We had a ñioqui lunch with the Cuiñas family.
Antonella is a rock star.  She´s being held back by her member boyfriend though, Cristian.  He´s just got some hard feelings against his grandparents, who he lives with, who are really big in the church, and who have always dropped cane on him for being so “flojo”, lazy, with the gospel.
Cristina Martinez and Ramón came also!  Whoo!  This was crucial because if they hadn´t come, we might´ve dropped them.  But they are putting forth great effort!
So we had a good week.  Keep it up people!!!!
Fernanda Cheese Formaggio was simply out of town, but still doing well.
I KNOW that God knows and loves us!  All we got to do is let him “take the wheel” in our lives and especially during trials.  (Carrie Underwood’s “Jesus take the wheel”, look it up Mom I think you’ll like it!)  We can have the sure confidence, stand back and “watch the salvation of God”, as long as we´ve done our part which is to repent and always keep our focus on him!  I know that the greatest joy is found in living the gospel of Jesus Christ and feasting upon his words in the scriptures.  He is all loving and all knowing. We just need to follow.
Love you all!!  Strengthen your study of the gospel and your ability to share it easily with others will strengthen too!

Puente = Bridge

Hola queridos!  This week went well!
José Luis:  We had a good lesson about keeping all the commandments because we love Jesus Christ.  That´s where everything should build off of.  Not to follow commandments just to fix problems, because those will always come, and we won´t grow from that, but out of a love to follow Christ.  They made it to church in time for sacrament meeting.
Cristian and Antonella:  Antonella is a new investigator!! Cristian is basically inactive (or was) who lives with very-active and firm-in-the-church grandparents. He has 23 years.  (In spanish we say “he has such n such years” when saying “he´s such n such years old”–hard habit to break!)  He has desires to return but still is hesitant about it.  His girlfriend is Antonella of 21 years.  They both have plans to get married and have a happy life!  Who doesn’t want a happy life!?  They both are really close with Cristian’s uncle, Lucas Larrosa, and his family (the Larrosa family is a perfect representation of a happy, loving, can-get-through-any-trial, spiritual family like any firm-gospel living family).  Cristian and Antonella see what wonderful lives they are leading and want that.  So we hav      e had 2 great lessons with them inside the home of the Larrosa family.  They came to sacrament meeting as well.  Antonella is SUPER SHARP and the Spirit was SUPER strong in both the last lessons…it feels so good!
As you can see from pictures below, we had an activity with the teens!  We cleaned out a back patio to the church, knocked down a tree, played some soccer, ate DELICIOUS “choripan” (a barbecued sausage in a sandwhich), and Elder Poulton and I shared with them Alma 37:35 which is to learn wisdom in your youth which is to keep the commandments.  If there´s anything you do, keep the commandments!  Becuase wisdom is keeping the commandments!  Learn to love Christ.  Come to church always and be a strong disciple.
We also painted the roof of a member´s house.
Fernanda Cheese (Formaggio):  Still going strong…was at a brother´s house sunday so they weren´t at church.  We are teaching her all the commandments and helping her really come to an answer and conclusion on getting baptized.  We still have their marriage beforehand in October to look forward to.
We went to the Rosario-Victoria bridge!  It´s huge and great! This picture is with the Cuiñas family.  Awesome, strong members.  Totally going to bring my family there someday!
Story of the day: Today a member was putting up a wire so we could dry clothes on the outside of the pension.  He was drilling a hole into the brick wall when a woman pops up from the other side of the wall and starts jabbering away saying “That´s my wall!!! Don´t touch my wall!  If you put anything in it I´ll take it out!”  Really emotional about her wall.  She had reason…it was her wall!  We were in the wrong so we began to drill into the wall of our pension and the sound reverberated onto her wall, so she pops up again…”What did I tell you that´s my wall!”  “We´re drilling into our own house!”  So much misunderstanding.  She was hysterical and looked like she was about to cry as she dropped down out of sight. We tried to explain that we were now drilling into our own wall but not sure if it really settled.  Our poor, newly acquainted, neighbor lady!  We will have to go over with brownies and try to settle anything with her pronto.     …..”cool story Hansel.”
A picture of our living quarters if you wanted to know!
Love you all!  BE strong.  HOLD on.  LEARN more.  LOVE CHRIST!
